The challenge of this role is to continue to design, build and rollout a high volume infrastructure, not only to support the European customer base, but also to meet the demands made on it as the development team adds functionality and new clients come on board.
As Head of Infrastructure your responsibilities will include:
Line management (lead, mentor and develop) of an eight-strong team of system architects and administrators – this team is expected to grow further as the company expands.
Project resourcing, budgeting & planning of typically 4-5 concurrent £100k+ infrastructure projects
Development of internal processes and procedures- working within the team and across teams to establish the best structures across the company as it continues to expand.
Development of the overall system design with Technical Leads across the company
Provision of a coherent vision for how the infrastructure will meet the demands made on it, drawing on your own experience and that of colleagues both within your team and across other disciplines.
Skills and experience required
Consumer facing web based e-commerce systems,
Backend media content management and delivery systems,
Reporting, MI and support systems,
A full set of development environments to support the applications development.
Mandatory
At least seven years (ideally ten years), within network*infrastructure roles
Experience of the design, rollout and support of large scale e-commerce systems
At least three years in a full line management role running an infrastructure*networking team of at least five staff.
Experience of successfully growing teams or creating new teams within a company experiencing considerable commercial and technical growth
Ability to provide a clear vision for developing organizational structures
Desirable
A 2i or 1st class honours degree from a well respected university, supported by strong A level grades is highly desirable
Knowledge of large scale Microsoft environments including .Net * IIS * SQL2000 * Win2k
A good knowledge of service management disciplines such as the ITIL or similar would be desirable
